Building a strong personal brand to meet your career goals

Brands don’t just apply to companies. They also apply to people. A personal brand is a mixture of your personal and professional history - your personality as much as your skills and experience. It sums up who you are and what you have to offer.

A strong personal brand can support you to succeed in your current job, whether you want to be given more challenging projects, get promoted, or achieve a pay rise. It plays a key role in getting a new job, particularly if you have had a career break. It is also crucial for freelancers who have to hustle to find new clients and is key for female founders who are the face of their business.

In this session, Kathryn Tyler will explain the role that your brand has to play in your career and help you understand how you can build an authentic brand to achieve your goals.

Michelle’s career in teaching was highly successful which lead her into management. But at what cost? This is where Michelle began to be faced with compromises. Career, family, finances, health and wellbeing. Issues that we all have to face at one time or another, however Michelle took charge and ultimately took back control of her life.

Taking the steps to start her yoga career, Michelle soon discovered that what once was a huge passion, was the key to an authentic business. Started in her attic after 20 years of practicing yoga (usually alone in the house!) she understood quickly that people responded to her delivery of this ancient practice that became very popular, incredibly quickly.

Moving her sessions out of her home and into external venues, she knew that this is where she needed to be. Her authentic self. Her authentic business.

An entrepreneur at heart, she developed her business skills fast. But how did she remain true? Fake it til you make it wasn’t her mantra. The groundings provided to her through the ancient practice of yoga however were there. So why not build on this to form the foundations of what’s now becoming a highly recognised yoga brand.

Michelle’s journey has been challenging, exhilarating and full of wonderful achievement. This continues, and remains true to who she is today, with the promise that those coming up through the Sandstone ranks will have the same genuineness and passion as she holds since she began.

Goodbye to the Imposter Syndrome

The Imposter Syndrome is a phenomenon or psychological pattern where we consistently doubt our accomplishments and consistently believe we will be exposed as a fraud. This phenomenon creates enormous fear and anxiety which affects business performance and our enjoyment of work.

This session will focus on how we develop ourselves and our organisations to remove this fear and anxiety that affects almost 70% of people in business, particularly women.

The content will focus on the root causes and drivers of the Imposter Syndrome plus focus on personal strategies to overcome this challenge for you or your business.

The Imposter Syndrome is felt personally but can be a function of our own esteem, our personal perception or drivers, the culture we operate in and the industry rules or norms.

Our aim is for every attendee at this session who suffers from the Imposter Syndrome to identify a root cause in themselves or their organisation and leave the session with a clear action and focus to reduce and eventually eradicate their Imposter syndrome.

Come join us and support our mission to rid business of this crippling syndrome and put a smile on our faces at work.

The power of thinking big and overcoming limiting beliefs

In today’s society, and especially as women, we are often led to believe in a lot of myths; that we can’t do certain things, that it’s a man’s world, that we should strive for one step up the ladder and see how we go, that we can’t expect to be CEO as very few women are - but I would like to talk about how limiting our beliefs like this can set us back from achieving our true potential. We are often guilty of giving ourselves excuses for not going for something; I’m too old, I’m too young, I have no experience, I don’t have the education - when in reality speaking to yourself in this manner and adopting this ‘limiting mindset’ only sets you up for dissatisfaction and disappointment. I would like to discuss how rather than focusing on the next step up in your career, (one step up syndrome), we should be focusing on thinking bigger than that, as the number of people who do is so small that the competition up there is actually much smaller than you might imagine.
